The Shaler North Hills Library, a medium sized public library located in the North Hills of Pittsburgh, PA, is seeking a dynamic, creative, enthusiastic self -starter to provide leadership and guidance for a busy children's department with an experienced, highly motivated staff. Customer service-oriented team player who will skillfully maintain a harmonious relationship with diverse customers and staff and have the ability to excel in a changing environment. S/he will have extensive knowledge of children's literature, programming, emergent literacy and technical skills. Duties include planning, scheduling and presenting programs for children, teens, parents and families, providing outreach to schools and other agencies in the community, training and managing staff and volunteers, participation in all-library programs, fundraising and events, providing reference and readers' advisory services, and collection development. This is a person with a vision for the future of library services to children and teens, and the energy to bring that vision to reality. MLS from an ALA accredited school, 2-4 years experience required, including supervisory. 40 hour work week, some nights and weekends. Excellent salary and benefits. EOE.
